George Dundas of Dundas, near South
Queensferry, married his second wife Katherine Oliphant in the
1560's. In 1570 she bore a son, James.
There was already an heir to the Dundas estates, from George's first
marriage and Katherine prevailed upon her husband to purchase Arniston
as an inheritance for James, who later became the first Dundas of
Arniston. |
